Teach your child to deal with stress

 Why?

'I am stressing !' are words which did not form part of the vocabulary of a primary school student a few years ago. Now they stress in the class before a test, next to the sports field, during an drawing competition, at the chess board, even in a dance or music concert/competition ! Our children must be taught from an early age that living life to the full requires active participation. They must realise very soon that good health and a long life cannot be obtained passively.

Children must, therefore, learn from an early age to manage their lives correctly. If they can succeed in this, perhaps some day fewer adults will complain about their stress and problems, as if they expect life to be easy !

Stress is a part of life and is today the norm rather than the exception. Stress is an individual reaction. What makes one child stress, may have no effect on another.

We must teach Our Children to deal with stress and use it to their own advantage. Then it can be a positive experience and not always a disaster.

A child must learn to apply his mind to handle the situation.

- If he is performing bad in test, exams or competition.

- If he is having continuous stomach-ache or nausea, anger.

- Analyse the problem and work out a plan.

- Emotionally strong, peaceful, calm and stronger.

These few drills will help the child to learn to use stress in his own advantage.
